Bring the backup history
Repeated backups, several affected fixtures and earlier clearing attempts are useful starting facts. Keep inspection recordings and written findings if available. Stop using affected fixtures when wastewater is returning indoors; avoid contact and describe the situation when calling.
Ask what the inspection will establish
Confirm the inspection entry point, accessible length and whether the recording is supplied. Ask the business to explain any proposed repair using its findings. A clearing restores flow; it is not itself evidence that a damaged pipe has been repaired.
Confirm the wastewater system at the property
Hillsborough County describes gravity, low-pressure and force-main systems, with low-pressure systems common around Ruskin. Those connections have different requirements. Verify the actual system and responsible utility before agreeing to work; septic conversion or pump work is not assumed to be included.
Compare the repair boundary
Locate the proposed work relative to the home, property boundary and utility connection. Discuss permits, access, excavation, surface restoration and testing. Ask what could change after inspection and who approves it. Public-main work and private-line work must not be treated as the same scope.
Before calling, distinguish one-fixture symptoms from a shared drainage problem and describe what you observed.
Questions to ask about sewer-line inspection & repair
- Can I receive the recording and written finding?
- Which section is private responsibility?
- What restoration and permits are included?
Does the quote include everything?
Ask about assessment charges, the proposed remedy, parts, testing and work excluded from the scope. Confirm availability and charges for your actual property. Compare the supplied scopes and exclusions before choosing.
